In Great Falls, you’ll be connected to major national and international markets via the Great Falls International Airport, which is served by Big Sky Airlines, Delta Airlines, Horizon Airlines and Northwest Airlines. There are 15 daily departures to Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Spokane, Billings and Kalispell. More than 129,000 people used the Great Falls International Airport in 2002.
Cargo:

  • The airport recently completed a 78,000-square-foot cargo sort facility for the Federal Express hub serving Montana and Canada.
  • The Great Falls Fed Ex Regional Hub has been awarded four consecutive Ace Audit awards. This is only the second occurrence of this level of performance in FEDEX history nationwide.
  • The Fed Ex Ramp was awarded the Circle of Excellence Award for the best ramp operation in the nation for the first quarter of 2003.

Highways & Roads
I-15 serves as a direct link to Canada to the north and Salt Lake City to the south, while I-90, located just 150 miles south of Great Falls provides excellent east/west access. There are many scenic byways around Great Falls: HWY 89 connects Yellowstone and Glacier National Park with Great Falls right in the center of these two magnificent natural wonders; HWY 200 connects Great Falls to Western Montana with a scenic drive over Logan Pass and the Continental Divide; HWY 87 features the wide open spaces and picturesque landscapes that characterize Russell Country.

Railroad
Montana 's rail system includes approximately 3,500 miles of track and is served by two major rail companies, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and Union Pacific. BNSF has 2,135 miles of track and in 1999 transported 1,570,046 carloads across Montana . Several local railroad companies and two regional rail companies also serve Montana , including Montana Rail Link with 812 miles of track.

Shelby - located 90 miles north of Great Falls - offers east/west AmTrak Passenger Rail Service. Take a little more time and travel aboard the Empire where you experience breathtaking scenery and wildlife.
